Gargalesis is a sound sculpture in the form of an iconic Australian giant termite (white ant) mound created for the Biennale of Sydney 2004. In Australia the term 'white anting' refers to human activity that covertly undermines and eats away at someone or something from within. Inside Gargalesis 'white ants' chatter, gossip, and emote about the MCA, art openings, biennales, critics, curators, other artists, Circular Quay real estate, architecture, and politics.
